Out
of all her guitars, according
to Linda Manzer
this is the model that her "reputation
has been built upon". This is the model for which Pat Metheny
is quoted: "This is the best acoustic guitar I have ever played".

And,
this particular guitar is unique: it is one of four that Linda made
for Pat Metheny in the Fall of 2000. She labeled
each of the four with a "P Series" designation (Bruce
Cockburn owns one of the four, in addition to Pat Metheny). |

This
Manzer also features "The Wedge" (TM) design, her original
spec that employs a narrower side just under the strumming arm.
Not only comfortable,
it adds aesthetic design interest. The Wedge on this guitar is 3
3/4" on the bass side (specifically right under the playing arm),
and from there fans out to 4 11/16" on the treble side, lower bout. |

Linda
describes this instrument as "a superb sounding and versatile
guitar, combining volume and definition with durability. It is preferred
by studio musicians for its clean, pure tone, but its ability to
withstand the rigors of the road make it an excellent concert guitar.
Like all Manzer instruments known for their full, rich sound and
balance, this model is precisely adjusted for even playability all
the way up the neck." |

I
agree! After a year, the guitar has opened up with great sustain.
The trebles strings especially stand out with sweet and precise
intonation all the way down the neck. It is a very articulate guitar. |

About
the woods, Linda says: "I use only the highest quality spruce,
cedar, maple, rosewood, ebony, and mahogany which are individually
matched to each other to provide a harmonious, solid and visually
pleasing construction. I have been collecting and drying wood for
over 20 years... I pay careful attention to every detail, ensuring
that fine quality of sound and design are consistent in all of my
instruments. For instance, I tune each German spruce and Western
cedar top before and after it has been installed. Split billets
of wood are used whenever possible." |

The
body on this Manzer is Indian Rosewood, with Indian Rosewood bindings
and purfling, with a remarkable German Spruce top (protected with
a clear pickguard). The rosette is thick abalone with boxwood and
rosewood lines; ebony is used on the fingerboard, bridge (compensated
bone saddle), and headstock plate inlayed with an abalone "Manzer"
signature. The neck is South American Mahogany; the tuners are black
Schallers. Scale Length: 65 cm (approximately 25 1/2"); nut width:
4.3 cm (1 3/4"); lower bout width: 39.5 cm (15 9/16"); body length:
50 cm (19 5/8"); overall length: 103 cm (40 1/2"). |
